Our Story

I am Alpesh, the founder of Bombay Design Co., based in London.

Growing up in Mumbai (known as Bombay until 1995) meant being surrounded by a rich tapestry of influences; Buddhist cave carvings, Indo-Saracenic arches, Gothic spires, bold Art Deco geometry. Each corner of the city offered a new lesson in craftsmanship, balance, and beauty.

As years passed and travels expanded my world, I found the same spirit of detail in places far from home. A motif in a museum, a pattern in a local market, a form repeated across a city’s architecture. These patterns, motifs, and design stories became quiet sources of inspiration.

In 2026, I founded Bombay Design Co. to bring those inspirations into the objects we live with every day. Each piece is designed to be more than functional, its meant to spark curiosity, tell a story, and elevate the simple moments of daily living.

Each design collection draws from a different corner of the world. Jardin Nar finds its roots in the tulip gardens and pomegranate motifs of Türkiye. Bombay Deco brings together the bold geometry of Bombay's Art Deco architecture and the soft, sweeping arches of Rajput and Mughal design. Baadiyah is an ode to the ancient landscapes of the Aravalli’s, trees shaped by wind, sun, and time. And Blu Pietra draws from the sunlit ceramics and coastal tilework of the Mediterranean. Each series is a different story, told through the objects you reach for every day.
